H2OtoGro 2.0 Series of Gardening Systems
CHANGE NUMBER 1 - no more air pumps, air stones & air lines!
What? Are you crazy? Crazy like a fox! While our "Originals" provide more than enough oxygen (D.O.) into the reservior by using this type of system, it does have it's flaws. However, we know that change can be hard for some people so we do still offer our "original" systems.
With hydroponic gardening, while it is the easist way to grow organically, there are a few things to look out for. The most important is Oxygen! Oxygen is critical in the development and growth of edible crops grown in hydroponic systems. In our Bubbler Hydroponic Kits, we have replaced the standard air pump & air stone with a water pump and Venturi attachment to add oxygen and greater circulation to the nutrient solution reservoir.
Oxygen is Key! Our Venturi Aeration Kit is the best on the market....
The water pump simply adds oxygen and circulation into the reservoir to circulate the water in the reservoir. As the pump operates it draws in air through a ¼-inch emitter, which provides the benefit of moving around the solution while the air being drawn in increases the level of dissolved oxygen. This allows freshly oxygenated water to be delivered quickly to the roots.
In conventional hydroponic NFT systems the flow rate is about ½ liter per minute. In our H2OtoGro hydroponic systems, we aim for about 1-3 liters per minute minimum. Our "Original" systems provide 3 litres per minute in our bin-style systems and 4 liters per minute in our Bucket-style systems. With the New H2OtoGro Venturi Aeration method, which is the same process used by the large, experienced hydroponic farmers, provides 3-6 liters per minute, depending on the water pump setting.
The circulation is much greater with the New H2OtoGro Venturi Aeration method. There isn't an air pump/air stone combination that can provide even half the circulation. Circulation helps properly mix nutrients and helps ensure proper oxygen levels to all the roots.
The issue with the air pump & air stone method of aeration is that the components can by hot spots for pathagens. The maintenance required to keep the air stone clean is often more hassle than a grower wants to deal with, especially once the reservoir is filled with healthy roots. By removing the air stone and air line we have eliminated this issue completely. In addition it provides more space in the reservoir for root growth and eliminates the need to disturb the roots because of an air stone.
Other issues with the air stone method of aeration is not enough circulation and too much oxygen concentrated under the roots directly above the stone. When there is too much oxygen the roots have less motivation to grow larger because they are getting everything they need with a smaller surface area. That can then translate to the plants producing less biomass resulting in less leaf tissue. So at some point too much oxygen can actually cause less growth. For crops like tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers the whole plant would be stunted.
CHANGE NUMBER 2 - no more blue tube water level indicators!
Nope, still not crazy! While we use the best combination available to install the blue tube water level indicator, which is a grommet and barbed elbow, the fact is that any hole in the reservoir below the water level is a possible leak source. We do still offer these levels as an option in our "original" systems.
Our 2.0 water level indicators help you maintain the proper depth and remind you to add more water to your system. This level is located in the lid so there is no chance of leaking. The level fits snugly so it doesn't introduce unwanted light into reservoir.
CHANGE NUMBER 3 - only one air stone in each reservior
If you prefer the air stone/air pump aeration method, we still offer them in our Oginial OG Series. We have made some changes but we still offer air stones in our Original OG Series. However we made changes in our # 8, # 10 & # 12 Bubbler kits as they used to include two air stones and a 7.8L air pump. We have recently learned that this is overkill for systems of that size. In fact, it can create issues for your roots because the air stones provide more oxygen to the roots directly above the stone.
The circulation (with an air stone, regardless of size and quantity) isn't sufficient to evenly distribute D.O. and nutrients. Therefor we have developed a new line of systems with the Venturi Aeration kit. Please see our 2.0 Series of hydroponic systems for more information on the Venturi Bubbler. As we still offer the conventional air stone aeration kit, we wanted to ensure we were offering the best combination. In other conventional hydroponic systems the flow rate is about ½ liter per minute. In our H2OtoGro hydroponic systems we have been aiming for about 1-2 liters per minute. This is the same rate used by professional, large scale growers based on years of experience, trial and error. So please trust us as professionals in the industry to make the necessary changes required to continue to offer high quality plant growing systems. The best combo for our size of kits is the single air stone with a 3.2L air pump. If you insist on adding two stones you can purchase the required accessories in our online SHOP under Accessories.
What Hasn't Changed?
With 6 years of experience in manufacturing gardening systems, we have earned prestigious ratings in every available online marketplace. We strive to consistently achieve 5 star ratings and do everything possible to make you happy!
We work hard to provide the highest quality available. We don't manufacture every aspect of our kits so we strive to use the most reliable accessories and always stand behind our products. If you an issue with any part, simply contact us and we'll take care of it right away.
We care about our family of customers so we use only products and accessories that are of the highest quality.
With our DWC Hydroponic kits, the roots are suspended in the reservoir beneath the net cups, where they bathe in nutrient-rich, oxygenated solution throughout the entire cycle. No separate reservoir required! Hydroponics increases the plant yield and reduces growing time.
Our bin-style systems are equipped with a drain for easy cleaning. Our Self-watering TopFeed systems feature a shut-off valve to make draining and adding water a breeze.
All of our items are shipped in discreet packaging, which is usually a shipping box from Home Depot or Lowes.
